Recognizing People Who Helped Shape Company Culture

Culture matters. Handbooks and mission statements don’t shape culture. People build it. It's the unwritten rules and shared understanding that shape daily interactions, decisions, and priorities. This October, Pinnacle HR Consulting LLC celebrates 15 years of dedicated service to clients, and we’re reflecting on the people who helped mold our culture. It’s the conversations between client interactions, the sharing of resources amongst each other, the overcoming challenges together, and the support that is offered. Our culture is strongly empowered by people, specifically our very own staff.

Leadership matters. Great company culture always starts with leadership. Kristina S. Griffin (Kris), Principal and Founder, has always stressed that work and life should never compromise each other. Since 2011, before remote work was as popular as it is today, Kris has always believed in life-work balance. She has set the standard through her own actions. Leaders who visibly take vacations, respect boundaries, and acknowledge their own mistakes create permission for others to do the same. At Pinnacle HR, meetings are kept to a minimum, and hours are kept modest to avoid burnout. Leadership doesn't just influence culture—leadership is culture in its formative stages.

Former employees matter. Acknowledging former employees' contributions demonstrates that the organization values people beyond their immediate time there and signals to current employees that their own cultural legacy will be honored. People who feel their contributions to the company culture are seen and valued powerfully shape an organization’s long-term reputation. Acknowledging this investment signals that cultural contributions are valued beyond their immediate utility. It also signals to current employees that they, too, will have a legacy. Former employees can become future clients, mentors, referral sources, or ambassadors. Long-term investment for any organization is maintaining these relationships.

Recognition matters. There are practical ways to celebrate and recognize those who have helped shape company culture:

  • Inviting alums to participate in company milestones

  • Creating an alum mailing list for networking and collaboration opportunities

  • Recognizing past contributors during anniversaries

  • Feature former employees in newsletters or on LinkedIn

Pinnacle HR is hosting a virtual reunion lunch next month with former employees to show appreciation to those who have helped shape our culture. Life takes people in different directions, but what remains consistent is the impact left. This meaningful reunion of current and former team members celebrates gratitude. It is an opportunity to reconnect, catch up, and thank those who have contributed to 15 years of shared success, growth, and relationships. Great organizations never outgrow the people who helped build them. They are a part of our story.
