I recently interviewed Tracey, HR Business Partner, and one of my colleagues at Pinnacle HR Consulting, LLC (“Pinnacle HR”). I am updating my blog article series about what it’s like working at Pinnacle HR and will share my thoughts and experiences afterward. I hope you enjoy getting to know us and learning about what we do at Pinnacle HR. Please listen to my conversation with Tracey.

Hi Tracey, thanks so much for talking with me today.

How long have you been working at Pinnacle HR? I started in March 2022 and recently celebrated three years last month!

Tell me a little bit about your role and work. As an HR Business Partner, I provide strategic HR support to clients, focusing on recruiting, employee relations, compliance, and organizational development. I work closely with our clients to tailor HR solutions that align with their culture and objectives, ensuring they have the right people, policies, and practices in place to thrive.

What was your background before joining Pinnacle HR? Before joining Pinnacle HR, I spent several years in human resources leadership roles across different industries, including non-profits, technology, and professional services. My experience includes all aspects of HR, including recruitment, compliance, training, development, and employee engagement. I also have a background in payroll and accounting.

Please describe your recruitment, interview, and onboarding process. Was it complicated or seamless, too long, just right, etc.? The recruitment process was well-structured and efficient. The communication was clear at every stage, and the interviews were engaging, allowing me to understand Pinnacle HR’s culture and expectations. The onboarding process was seamless, providing all the necessary tools and resources to get up to speed quickly. It was a great balance of self-paced learning and hands-on support from the team.

Pinnacle HR has been a 100% remote work environment since 2011 and currently has employees in four states. Please share your thoughts about your introduction to our work environment. Joining a fully remote team was an easy transition, thanks to the structured onboarding and strong communication practices in place. The firm’s use of technology for collaboration made it easy to connect with colleagues, and the flexibility allows for a healthy balance between work and personal life. The remote culture at Pinnacle HR is intentional and well-executed, which makes a big difference.

How about working with our team? What has that been like for you? The team at Pinnacle HR is incredibly supportive, knowledgeable, and collaborative. Everyone is eager to share insights and help each other succeed, which creates a dynamic and engaging work environment. Despite being remote, there’s a strong sense of connection and camaraderie, and leadership encourages open communication and innovation.

Since you’ve been on the team, please describe your training and any new skills and knowledge you’ve gained. From the start, I was provided with the tools and resources needed to navigate our systems, processes, and client expectations effectively. I’ve deepened my understanding of multi-state HR compliance, refined my skills in remote workforce management, and gained hands-on experience with new HR technologies.

What about life/work balance; what do you enjoy doing when you’re away from work? And, yes, for our blog readers, we focus on life/work balance at Pinnacle HR, not work/life balance. I appreciate Pinnacle HR’s focus on life/work balance – it truly prioritizes people. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, and swimming.

What changes would you like to see Pinnacle HR make? Pinnacle HR already does a great job fostering a remote-friendly culture, but I’d love to see more virtual team-building activities or occasional in-person meetups to strengthen connections even further. Perhaps more mentorship opportunities could also benefit newer team members.

What else would you like to add, Tracey? I’m grateful to be a part of a firm that values its employees and clients. Pinnacle HR has built a culture of trust, flexibility, and professional growth, making it an exceptional place to work. I look forward to continuing to contribute to its success!

Tracey, thank you for spending time with me today and sharing.
